We were joined by Eddie Ludlow from The Whisky Lounge who was our host for the day alongside some very special guests. Out of all the sessions, our Filey Bay cocktails were a huge hit! Filey Bay Tasting Experience 13/02/2021

Enjoying: Filey Bay Tasting Experience

New to Filey Bay whisky? Filey Bay is the first single malt whisky to be made in and of Yorkshire. Spirit of Yorkshire is a field to bottle distillery which means we are amongst the handful of distilleries across the world who can rewind the whisky in your glass right back to the field the barley was grown in. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to share the experience of Yorkshire whisky far and wide. With the release of our Filey Bay Tasting Experience, we believe it can do... Read More

Living: ‘Distillery Diaries’ – Spirit of Yorkshire Blue

In times like these, looking back and appreciating memories is something to pass the time. Here’s a little story of ours about our distinctive Spirit of Yorkshire blue from our Managing Director, David Thompson. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to share the distillery with the public. Therefore, a lot of time and effort went into ensuring the distillery and the Pot Still Coffee Shop were ready for the occasion. Because copper is such a beautiful colour we really wanted to show off our Forsyth pot stills; we wanted... Read More

Glass of Yorkshire Whisky 21/01/2021

Enjoying: Burns Night

We’re celebrating Burns Night a little differently this year, here’s how. Whisky and Burns Night go hand in hand as the famous poet was known for his love of a ‘wee dram’. For the past two years, we’ve hosted a sell-out Burns Night here at the distillery but obviously, that’s had to be paused this year. However, to ensure we or our customers don’t miss out on the celebration, we thought we’d share all the necessities with you to host your very own Spirit of Yorkshire Burns Night at home.... Since the beginning of August, we’ve been taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and it’s been so great to see so many friendly, familiar and new faces every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday here at the Pot Still Coffee Shop. The scheme finishes very soon though so you’ve got until 4pm tomorrow to make the most of 50% off (up to £10). Though we’re afraid whisky and beer aren’t included!

Together in Spirit: the Wold Top and Spirit of Yorkshire Playlist. 17/04/2020

Enjoying: ‘Together in Spirit’ – our Spotify playlist

We’re big fans of music here at Spirit of Yorkshire, as well as at our sister brewery The Wold Top Brewery. So in lieu of the regular live music at the distillery and brewery (and to give us a really nice way of feeling connected, even though we’re all apart), we’ve compiled a joint playlist of the team’s favourite songs for enjoying a glass (or more…) of something delicious to. Each team member from both Wold Top and SOY has been asked to submit a few songs that they love... Read More

DP002 and Hot Cross Buns 14/04/2020

Enjoying: Locally-sourced Hot Cross Buns with DP002

A different kind of Easter this year. We toasted the weekend with a glass of our Maturing Malt Distillery Projects 002, which we released in Spring 2018 and which has notes of honeycomb and hot cross buns. Needless to say, that called for a baked accompaniment and despite the shortages of flour and yeast, our local suppliers had the right things in stock! We used both a recipe and flour from Side Oven, a farm-based bakery from nearby Driffield. Our eggs came from Trotters Farm Shop on the edge of... Read More
