TOURS
Distillery & Brewery Tour
The Wold Top Brewery and The Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery are joining forces for a combined tour every Tuesday afternoon, and selected Saturdays too. A brilliant introduction to our truly field to bottle process, you’ll start at the farm and the brewery, before heading down to the whisky distillery. (Important to note: the brewery is on a different site to the distillery, about 3 miles apart).
There’ll be plenty of beer to taste and whiskies to try, and you’ll finish the day knowing all there is to know about Yorkshire beer and Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky, Filey Bay.
Experts in the Field
The Mellors have been growing barley since 1945, Wold Top have been brewing world-class beer since 2003, and Filey Bay whisky is the first (and currently only) Single Malt Whisky made in Yorkshire.
Unique and Distinctive
Explore and discuss the finer details of the flavours and notes to be found within our Filey Bay whiskies.

The tour will start up at the Brewery at 1pm with the chance to see how their award-winning beers are made, how the beginning process of whisky making is done, followed by, you guessed it, a tasting of the award-winning beers!
Distillery
You’ll then make your way down to us, The Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, located a few miles down the road where your tour will start at 3pm.
At the distillery, you will find out all about the intricate details of the whisky-making process and gain a full understanding as to what makes the Spirit of Yorkshire so unique in its distilling process.
All topped off with a few samples from the warehouse of course.
Availability
We also have a number of joint tours available on a Saturday. This tour will start at the Brewery at 11am finishing with the tour at 1pm at the Distillery. For availability, please see the calendar.
Please note: the brewery and the distillery are located a few miles apart, and the tour starts at the brewery. Your own transport for this tour is essential as there are no public transport facilities to the brewery from Hunmanby or other local towns.
So we set off on a “mystery trip”, now I’m not one for mystery trips so we set off and I was in a grumpy mood and was in pain. We turned on to the road to Hunmanby and I was definitely none the wiser. Just before we got there my darling wife asked me to close my eyes.
We arrived on a small but tidy industrial estate and entered the distillery. I was still quite grumpy but my interest was starting to peak as I had never been on a distillery tour before. It was beautifully clean and well presented with a wonderful array of whisky’s for sale. We were signposted upstairs to the start of the tour.
The tour was eye opening and informative, the smells were heavenly, and then the pièce de résistance the tasting of the whisky’s. I had entered single malt heaven. We were given three to sample and were allowed to sample any others from the range on the “try before you buy” basis. So we did and then we did (buy that is).
We then sauntered upstairs again to sample the delights of the café and we weren’t disappointed. We went for the sharing platter which was amply stocked with local cheeses and charcuterie. Oh and the pork pie on the side was to die for, also sourced from a local provider.
We will be going back again for more lovely food and to purchase more of their mighty fine whisky. I’ve also recommended this place to all my friends who the cycling fraternity as a blooming good cafe stop.
Please do to go as you won’t be disappointed.
FAQs
Everyone over the age of 6 is welcome to join a tour. We cannot allow anyone under the age of 6 into the still house. Therefore they cannot join the tour. This includes babes-in-arms.
The stills are in action on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. However very occasionally, for technical reasons, there will be times when we are not distilling on those days.
We love our furry four legged friends however as we are a working distillery, we can only allow Assistance Dogs into the distillery building. This includes the distillery shop and the Pot Still Coffee Shop.
Our Daily Distillery Tours last 60 minutes (at 11, 1 and 3 everyday). The Distillery Deep Dive is 90 minutes. And our Brewery and Distillery Tours take around 3 hours.
