A marriage of whisky aged in ex-Bourbon and ex-Madeira casks from our earliest days through to 2023. Including from Cask 001, filled 14th June 2016.

A true piece of Yorkshire history: the first ever ten-year-old Yorkshire single malt whisky.

14th June 2016. That was the day this bung was hammered into Cask 001.

Today, we took it out for the very first time. To stand in the warehouse and taste the first-ever 10-year-old single malt whisky made in Yorkshire is an absolute privilege. It’s hard to put into words what this moment means to the whole team.

An amazing first, and a beautiful milestone to be a part of. Cheers to a decade of distilling.

Exactly ten years ago today, history was made here in Yorkshire.

It all goes back to a conversation in 2011. Best friends Tom and Dave were chatting over a pint: "We've got barley on the farm, we've got our own water, and we already make great beer." Whisky was the next logical step.

Five years of hard work later, on the 14th June 2016, Co-Founders David Thompson and Tom Mellor officially filled our first ever cask of new make spirit.

That first cask paved the way for the Filey Bay single malt we are so proud to share with you today.

Looking ahead to Father’s Day?

If you want to give a gift with a real story behind it, Filey Bay Porter Cask #2 is our recommendation.

This whisky spent four years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, followed by nearly three years in ex-porter casks. Those porter casks have their own great story: they originally held our flagship whisky, then went to Wold Top to mature the barrel-aged beer Rip Curl, before coming back to us to for this Special Release.

Try pairing a bottle with Wold Top’s Rip Curl and Marmalade Porter to showcase the full journey from our fields, through the brewery and distillery, and into the glass.
