Small batch sizes, unusual casks and creative marrying are what make our Special Releases quite so special. Some are one-offs, some are annual series; all are only ready when we taste that they are ready.

Porter Cask

From whisky to beer to whisky, we worked alongside our sister brewery to create something that's totally unique to us and our skills as farmers, brewers and distillers; Filey Bay Single Malt Whisky, matured in ex-Porter (beer) casks.

Sherry Cask Reserve

Full term sherry cask maturation is key for this annual autumn series. Carefully selected from our warehouse, each batch comprises around 5 casks of either a single style, or a curated combination of sherry styles (around 2000 bottles), married together by our Whisky Director and Distiller and bottled at 46%.

Yorkshire Day

Released each year at our Open Weekend (always as close to the 1st August as we can make it!), Filey Bay Yorkshire Day Special Releases are distillery exclusives and so only available in our shop or via a small allocation on our website. A marriage of around four different cask types (usually some of the oldest in the warehouse), it's bottled at 55%.

Double Oak

Unusual and distinctive, Filey Bay Double Oak Special Release has made waves from the day one. Double Oak #1 was awarded a prestigious Spirits Business World Whisky Master Medal in 2022. Double Oak #2 launched from Easter 2023. Created by maturing our single malt whisky in both ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks, the virgin oak brings fruity and spicy notes, whilst the ex-bourbon casks balance this with vanilla and toffee flavours.

  • STORY BEHIND

    The Name

    Our local area is hugely important to us and so naturally it’s where we’ve found the name for our Single Malt: Filey Bay. We see the sea and the curve of the bay from the distillery window. We had lists of names but we just kept coming back to this.

    Bottle

    Our bespoke bottle brings together the textures of the farm, the soil, the beach and the sky. Pick it up, look closely underneath and you'll see a secret phrase... "Proudly Made of Yorkshire." Because it is.
