What is
Regenerative Farming?
The latest ‘buzzword.’ It’s being used everywhere from Parliament to Vogue, but what does it mean and why is it important?
It's all about the soil
Keeping the soil healthy and structured is extremely important, not just to farming but to people everywhere. It improves drainage, reducing flooding and standing water. It prevents leaching into water courses below, keeping our rivers, ponds and lakes cleaner. It holds nutrients inside, stopping them entering the atmosphere. And it's its own ecosystem, full of worms, organic matter and thousands of organisms, enabling plants & crops to thrive and flourish.
Not Rigid Rules
Guiding Principles
There’s no one-size-fits all solution to farming regeneratively and it’s certainly not a straightforward tick box exercise. We follow five basic principles... but how these are done differs from farm to farm. Every farm has different requirements, soil types, ecosystems, and needs; these principles flex depending on what those are.

Drilling Down
Below we describe the 5 principles and what we do on our farm, with our very chalky soil, three miles from the sea. Click on the pictures or buttons to find out more.
