It’s National Best Friends Day and who better to raise a dram to than Tom and David, the best mates behind Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery.

What began as a chat over a pint and a game of rugby back in 2011 soon grew into something much bigger. With barley grown on their family farm in the Yorkshire Wolds and water drawn from chalk aquifers beneath their feet, they turned a shared dream into Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky distillery.

We're delighted to share some exciting news from this year’s International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC). Both Filey Bay Flagship and Filey Bay Moscatel Finish have been awarded Gold Medals, each scoring a fantastic 95 points.

The IWSC is judged by experienced sommeliers, distillers, vintners and distributors. These medals are great accolades and a timely reminder of why we’re doing what we’re doing: making world-class field to bottle whisky using 100% homegrown barley, here on the Yorkshire Coast.

As May turns to June, our focus shifts to this year’s Yorkshire Day Special Release.

Over the coming weeks, Whisky Director Joe Clark will be deep in the warehouse, tasting and selecting the perfect casks for Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2025. This limited release will debut during our annual Distillery Open Weekend at the end of July.

Joe’s also been working on a couple of extra surprises that are just for Open Weekend attendees only, so if you’re joining us, you’re in for something special.

It's been nearly four weeks since we launched Nurture, the first of our Filey Bay Regenerative Editions, in 197 @Waitrose stores across the UK

This release focuses on our roots as Yorkshire farmers since 1945, our experience brewing since 2003, and our passion for distilling since 2016.

Truly, traceably, from field to bottle with 100% homegrown regeneratively farmed barley and farm-sourced water. Few distilleries around the world can say they are producing single malt whisky like we do.
