We're in unchartered territory. Our number one priority is the health, well-being and safety of our team, customers and community. We're constantly monitoring the government's and Public Health England's advice, and acting accordingly. We'll keep this page of our website regularly updated so you can easily understand our plans and the actions they will lead to. Thank you in advance for your understanding and continued support.

Wishing everyone the very best, Tom & David (co-founders)

Our Plan.

As of Tuesday 30th June 2020

The Distillery Shop is open. Opening times from 30th June – 13th July are 10 – 4, Monday to Friday.

Tours will be resuming from 13th July 2020; dates are now available to book. However there will only be two tour slots per day with a maximum of 6 people per tour. Tours must be booked at least 12 hours in advance.

Opening times from 13th July onwards are 10 – 4 Monday to Saturday, and 10 – 3 on Sundays.

The Pot Still Coffee Shop and Events will remain closed for the time being. Joint Brewery Tours and Distilling Experience Days are also paused.

For full details on the social distancing and safety measures being implemented in the shop and on our tours, please scroll down this page.

Events are being replanned on an individual basis. If you have event tickets, we'll be in touch with our plans and what is happening. If you have Afternoon Teas booked, or Gift Vouchers that are due to expire soon, please email info@spiritofyorkshire.com and we'll reschedule for the future (you won't need to give a date). If you have tours booked for future dates at a time that is no longer available, please call the distillery to reschedule.

We're still distilling and working safely at the distillery and on the farm.

Therefore the online shop is open and all UK Mainland deliveries will be free (though delivery times may be longer than usual)

We have two different bottlings currently for sale: Filey Bay Moscatel Finish, and Filey Bay Second Release. We also have Gift Vouchers (the 12 month usage period is waived for the time being) and two 'collections' available – one for Whisky Lovers and one for Food Lovers. All information on whisky and gifts for sale can be found here.

We'll keep our social channels and website updated as regularly as possible. We'll also be using email to our cask owners and newsletter subscribers to give updates as relevant (we will use this sparingly).

For all other enquiries, please contact us on info@spiritofyorkshire.com and we'll reply as quickly as we can!

Distillery Tours Resuming, from Monday 13th July 2020, 11am

We have reacted to the Covid-19 pandemic and assessed the risks associated with running distillery tours to the public within these premises, and as a result of the assessment, have come to the conclusion that it is safe to resume tours from 13th July 2020.

We have introduced new measures that are designed to minimise risk of you becoming infected with Covid-19 or of you passing on the Covid-19 virus to another customer should you visit. The measures are designed to comply with the latest government advice or to be stricter if we feel that such increased mitigation reduces significantly the assessed risks. We will review the risk assessments when necessary with the aim of providing the safest environment for your visit.

One of the first measures we have implemented is permitting a maximum of 6 people on a distillery tour at any one time. We need to maintain social distancing at all times between customers and our employees so we will be running only two tours a day (11am and 1pm) rather than three tours a day. Distillery tours must be booked in advance, we are not offering walk in tours at this time. You can book a distillery tour either via our website: www.spiritofyorkshire.com or by calling our team on: 01723 891758.

We will keep the entrance door closed and customers will need to wait outside or in their vehicles until the start time of the tour.

Secondly, we have installed plenty of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout the distillery with the aim of reducing the risk of transmission of the virus. PPE includes clear Perspex screens at the shop counter, hand sanitiser dispensers throughout the distillery, and gloves & face masks for our employees to wear. To minimise the spread of the virus, we will encourage our customers participating on a tour to take their temperature on arrival and sanitise their hands. Customer toilets will remain closed unless requested, and extensive cleaning will be carried out before and after a tour. Customers will also need to adhere to the 1 metre distance rule.

As mentioned above, areas of the distillery accessed by customers will undergo frequent cleaning routines including hand rails and door handles being wiped regularly, and surfaces disinfected throughout the day. We are also operating with limited employees on site and have changed our opening times to 10am – 4pm, Monday – Saturday (10 – 3, Sundays).

The Pot Still Coffee Shop remains closed and we have decided against offering a takeaway service at this time.

We value each of our customers and have attempted to make the distillery a place where you feel safe to visit. If you feel that there are improvements or extra measures that we could implement, please speak with a member of our team. We ask that anyone intending to visit the distillery also takes precautions and follows the governments advice. If you are displaying any signs of Covid-19 please refrain from visiting the distillery to prevent the spread of the virus.

Distillery Shop Reopening, from Monday 15th June 2020, 10am

Dear Customers

We have reacted to the Covid-19 pandemic and assessed the risks associated with distilling and distribution/retail activities within these premises, and as a result of the assessment of risk, we have introduced new measures that are designed to minimise risk of you becoming infected with Covid-19 or of you passing on the Covid-19 virus to another customer should you wish to visit. The measures are designed to comply with the latest government advice or to be stricter if we feel that such increased mitigation reduces significantly the assessed risks. We will review the risk assessments when necessary with the aim of providing the safest environment for your visit.

One of the first measures we have implemented is allowing a maximum of 3 people in the distillery shop at any one time. We need to maintain social distancing at all times between customers and our employees so we now operate a one-way system through the distillery shop entrance and exit will be through the distillery. We will keep the entrance door closed and operate a queue system where customers will be allowed to enter the shop 3 people at a time.

Secondly, we have installed plenty of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout the distillery with the aim of reducing the risk of transmission of the virus. PPE includes clear Perspex screens at the shop counter, hand sanitiser dispensers at the entrance and exit of the distillery, and gloves & face masks for our employees to wear. To minimise the spread of the virus, our customer toilets will be closed unless requested, and extensive cleaning will be ongoing throughout each day. Our distillery shop will be processing card only transactions. Contactless payments are preferable but if chip and pin is required, we will ensure our card machines are disinfected after every use.

Areas of the distillery accessed by customers will undergo frequent cleaning routines including hand rails and door handles being wiped regularly, and surfaces disinfected throughout the day. We are also operating with limited employees on site and have changed our opening times to 10am – 3pm Monday to Friday. We will offer seating area on the grass outside the front of the distillery for customers to use whilst they are waiting to enter the shop.

The Pot Still Coffee Shop remains closed and we are not offering a takeaway service at this time. Distillery tours are suspended until we are certain it is safe to resume. As we are a working distillery, it is imperative we can exercise social distancing rules on distillery tours with our employees and our customers. This is something we will review and will update in line with governments advice.

Kindest Regards,

The Distillery Team
