Burns Night is a highlight of the year for us and for the 2025 celebrations we have five themed nights lined up for you, all with a significant Yorkshire twist.

What is Burns Night?

Burns Night is an annual celebration of Scotland’s most famous poet – a man called Robert Burns. Born in Ayr, Burns was more than just a poet. He produced hundreds of poems, songs and letters. You no doubt may have heard (or even sang!) ‘Auld Lang Syne’ when ringing in the New Year? In all he penned more than 550 poems and songs before his death in 1796.

The Tradtion

Burns Night itself marks the anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth on 25 January 1759 and the traditional Burns supper is an evening event that celebrates his life and work.

We like to respect tradition here at Spirit of Yorkshire, but do things our own way. Our Burns Night events are no different and they all include our Filey Bay Single Malt Whisky. Made in and of Yorkshire.

A Burns' Night Dinner

Thursday 23rd January 2025

A Burns' Night dinner hosted by Morgan from the Distillery with a celebration menu and reading from Robert Burns' poems. Welcome drinks and canapés, followed by a special Burns' Night four-course dinner menu created by Head Chef Ashley Binder, accompanied by Filey Bay Whisky.

Yorkshire Meets Burns: A Whisky Celebration

Celebrate the legacy of Robert Burns in true Dakota style. Expect an evening of rich flavours, lively entertainment, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere and Filey Bay Whisky of course.

Yorkshire Whisky Tasting

Friday 24th January 2025 

Morgan will be hosting a Filey Bay whisky tasting inside the Rusty Bull at Hinchcliffe's Farm in Netherton, Huddersfield. The evening will include a guided a Filey Bay whisky tastings and canapés.

Burns Night Celebrations

Saturday 25th January 2025

Our friends at Embers Restaurant in Scarborough, North Yorkshire are hosting two events on the same day. Bottomless Brunch with a scottish themed menu will be available from 1pm, followed by an evening of  Food & Whisky Pairings from 7.30pm, which will include Filey Bay whiskies and a traditional scottish menu with a woodfired twist along with a toasting of the haggis, poetry and music.

Burns Night Whisky Dinner

Friday 24th January 2025 

Join Amy at the Distillery on Friday 24th January to celebrate the life and poetry of Robert Burns with a delicious three-course dinner, paired with Filey Bay whiskies. The evening will include a live performance from Scottish singer-songwriter Gary Stewart.

When will my whisky be delivered?

Our deliveries are made during business hours, Monday-Saturday, and will be delivered within 2-3 working days. You will receive email and/or SMS notifications too.

How do I qualify for free delivery?

When you spend £100 or more, free postage will automatically be applied to your basket (UK Mainland only).

Can I click and collect my order?

Absolutely! Select ‘Collect in Store’ as a delivery option at checkout. You’ll receive an email when it’s ready for you to collect from the distillery.

How do I know if this whisky is for me?

Buying online makes it tricky to try – we get that! Each product page has tasting notes and illustrations to help you understand the Filey Bay flavour profiles. If you’d like to try in person and you’re in Yorkshire, head to the distillery for a tour or to try the whiskies the distillery shop. Further afield? Head to our Stockists page to find your local retailer, and head there to have a taste!
