Growing: Last Year’s Barley Comes Home!

Today the first loads of barley from harvest 2022 came home as malt (though it’s only been 8 miles away).

As one of only a handful of truly field to bottle distilleries around the world, we’re extremely proud that all the barley used for making our whisky comes from our farm here on the Yorkshire Wolds. We work closely with Muntons Malt and Wold Top Brewery (our sister brewery) so that the barley from our farm is ring-fenced for malting. This is how we guarantee that 100% of the malt used for making Filey Bay Whisky comes from our fields and is grown by us.

We have more loads coming over the next few days and soon, it will be used for milling, mashing, brewing and distilling.

Cheers!
