**Filey Bay in Germany**

David heads back to Germany this weekend to the Kempen Whiskey Conference for a special masterclass tasting, again supported by our German distributor @schlumbergersegnitz.

Joining a selection of 'whisky makers' under the category “Old Traditions vs. New World Whiskey” David will be diving deep into what constitutes traditional whisky production and how has it developed over the years.

The fun doesn't stop there, next week Filey Bay whisky will be at the prestigious whisky fair in Limburg which is one the largest whisky events of its kind. Update to follow.

Filey Bay Peated Finish Batch #3

First released in 2021, Batch #1 of this special single malt was our fastest selling finished whisky ever and Batch #2 won a highly coveted World Whisky Master.

Primarily matured in first-fill bourbon casks laid down in the spring and summer of 2018 before a secondary maturation in peated casks tying together the Yorkshire coast with the West coast of Scotland.

Our Peated Finish is all about balance; soft and sweet with a gentle twist of smoke making this Filey Bay release perfect for any whisky fan whatever their preference.

Showcasing the process of secondary maturation within our 'Finish' range.

When talking about whisky, a 'finish' refers to an additional aging period that happens after the whisky has already been matured in its primary cask. This secondary aging period takes place in a different type of cask, typically one that previously held a different spirit or wine.

With the ‘finish’ process, we’re looking to add layers of flavour and complexity on top of our light, sweet and fruity ex-bourbon house style.

A whole year has passed since the release of the first Independent Bottling of our whisky by the brilliant @berrybrosruddspirits : Berry Bros. & Rudd Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery PX Finish Cask #2237

There are some things in whisky that you can only do once and this special bottling was definitely one of them. This was also the first English whisky bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd which sold out within 30 minutes of its release.

To work with Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant for this momentous release was nothing short of an honour and a privilege.
