Distilling: Decadent Drinks x Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery

Decadent Drinks are an independent bottler with a reputation for doing things properly, and a little differently.

Founded by whisky writer and curator Angus MacRaild, they’ve made a name for themselves by bottling remarkable spirits with a strong sense of character, provenance, and a good dose of personality. Every release tells a story, not just through the liquid, but through the label too.

Fittingly, the label for this release features two people at the heart of our distillery: Brand Ambassador Amy Teasdale and Whisky Director Joe Clark. We’ll let you work out the rest for yourselves…

When Angus paid us a visit last year, he wasn’t just here for the sea views and the Yorkshire welcome, he came in search of something special. After a good rummage through the warehouse, he was set on a second-fill ex-Islay cask, which was laid down to rest in 2018.

A beautifully creamy, richly malty dram with a touch of elegant peat smoke, more of a nod than nudge to its Islay past. Bottled with a very slight reduction to 57.1%, to let the character shine.

Limited to just 249 bottles, this one off release is available exclusively through Decadent Drinks, and selected specialist retailers: The Whisky Shop, The Whisky World, Master of Malt, Royal Mile Whiskies and McMillans of Malton.
