We are delighted to announce our first independent bottling, which is also the first English Whisky to be bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd, one of the UK’s best respected wine and spirits merchants.

PX Finish Cask #2237

“There are some things in whisky that you can only do once and this special bottling is definitely one of them. When this delicious, rich and fruity cask of field-to-bottle whisky was bottled it became not only our very first independent bottling but also the first English whisky bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd. To work with Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant for this momentous release is nothing short of an honour and a privilege.”

Joe Clark, Whisky Director
Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery

It seems a very long time ago that Jonny McMillan and Rob Whitehead visited the warehouse in Autumn 2021 to choose a cask for this release. It was cold, raining and dark by about 3.30pm but the casks that Joe had selected and the discussion and debate about which would suit this release best were warming and illuminating. Rob, who by very happy coincidence is also from Scarborough, has been a great supporter of the distillery since 2016. It felt like a really great pairing, especially given their focus on regenerative production, along with our farming methods too.

They say: The Berry Bros. & Rudd Spirit of Yorkshire 2017 PX Finish Cask #2237 celebrates the fertility and rich biodiversity of the Yorkshire Wolds.

We say: an absolutely delicious rich and fruity single malt. We’re delighted to see it shine in the inimitable Berry Bros. & Rudd livery.
